Insulation - EP
The Zac Land Band came together in 2018 around the creation of
their first studio recording "Insulation - EP". Written and produced by the bandleader, the driving feel of the project has roots in rock and country, while Land’s voice and acoustic guitar stylings lend a distinct folk element to the music. Joining Land are electric guitarist Greg Ayers, bassist Emily Rogers of Lola Valley and RIB, and drummer Nathan Friedman of the electric chamber music duo SUN SPEAK. Detroit trumpeter Allen Dennard also makes an appearance on the EP, contributing a jazz timbre to the track "Thin Air" with his soulful flugle-horn playing. This, combined with the Dixieland brass choral that closes the record, hint at Land's origion as a jazz trombonist, which help explain the genre-crossing origionallity of the music.

The Zac Land Band has just released its debut studio recording entitled “Insulation - EP”. The music has a driving roots feel with elements of both rock and country. Somehow though, neither the dulcet flugel-horn tones of Detroit trumpeter Allen Dennard (who is featured on the track "Thin Air"), nor the Dixieland brass section (anchored by sousaphonist Shavon Johnson of the Gabriel Brass Band) which closes out the album, seems out of place.
